Physical Intervention training from Brooks Jordan
Please note that this programme is pending revision and will be updated to take account of the Mental Health National Syllabus once this comes on line.
Course Overview
Our Physical Intervention training is primarily aimed at mental health professionals (NHS and social services), staff working in the security sector and staff working in hospital Accident & Emergency departments. We offer a 4 day course (validation) and a 2 day course (re-validation). We also run Level 4 training in Team Physical Intervention – Older People’s Services, which includes a comprehensive competency assessment. All courses have far-reaching subject content that covers planned and unplanned interventions with patients or service users as well as observation and documentation procedures. Delegates are also given a thorough grounding in the theory, legal framework and ethical considerations that surround physical intervention.
Course Aims
The Physical Intervention Training aims to teach delegates to:
- Understand and safely use the appropriate and approved techniques for physical intervention in different scenarios
- Consider the medical effects of both physical restraint and tranquilisation
- Deal with emergency situations
- Follow best practice for documentation and incident reporting.
