Physical Intervention training course
Fully licensed by Maybo:
This course is ideal for you if you if you need to manage challenging behaviour from clients.
Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to deal with confrontational behaviour, there is no option but to use physical techniques to hold someone exhibiting challenging behaviour. And on those occasions when holding someone to prevent harm is essential how important is it that your staff do this safely, using tested and carefully risk assessed techniques?
If you have staff trained in physical interventions skills you will know how costly and time consuming embedding these skills can be. So might it be useful to hear that all the hard work has been taken out of designing a programme that is safe, effective, easy to master and delivered in only two days (one day for refresher training), meaning that time on courses is minimised. You can relax safe in the knowledge that staff are being trained to use the safest and most effective system around and that they will never be taught anything that could lead to injury.
Vetted by BILD, Skills for Security, and accredited with a number of awarding bodies, the Maybo Safer Physical Interventions system is delivered as an accredited programme and is suitable for staff working in care settings or those in the security sector.
In just 2 days you will learn how to:
- Risk assess a situation before intervening
- Adopt tactical positioning during conflict to avoid punches & kicks
- Disengage from grabs and holds
- Safely apply both restrictive and non-restrictive physical holding techniques
- Apply both restrictive & non-restrictive escorting techniques
- Justify your actions from a legal moral & ethical stance
- Carry out a full risk analysis of the medical implications
- Assess and be aware of associated legal considerations
Techniques taught are based on simple yet powerful principles. Suitable for use by men and women this programme reinforces the need to utilise diffusion strategies wherever possible, with physical interventions used as a last resort.
Before training begins a comprehensive training needs analysis is carried out to assess the level of risk experienced in your establishment and to ensure that only those techniques relevant to your organisation are taught.
