Course Overview
Our Data Protection course is designed for staff working in public sector roles. The course gives them an understanding of the two key pieces of legislation – the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 – and how these should be applied when dealing with personal information about patients and service users.

The primary aims of the Data Protection & Freedom of Information Acts course are to:
- Give staff a working knowledge of key data protection legislation and the rights of individuals to access information about themselves
- Provide an understanding of the importance of data protection in public sector roles and the consequences of not following the correct procedures
